This policy explains what personal information Life in Breath & Steps (“we”, “us”, “the site”) collects when you use lifeinbreathandsteps.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The site is run by Tunde Olorunfemi and is the data controller for the information described below.
The information we collect
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. To confirm your consent and protect against abuse, we also record the date, time and IP address of your sign-up and confirmation. We keep a record of which emails you open and the links you click so we can understand what our readers find helpful. We use this information only to send you the content you asked for and to improve it.
Contact form
If you send us a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message so we can reply and keep a record of our correspondence.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are read most and how people arrive. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device and browser, and the pages you view. This data helps us improve the site and is not used to identify you personally.
Embedded content
Our video pages (Life in Frames) embed videos from YouTube. When you view a page with an embedded video, YouTube may set its own cookies and collect data about you in the same way as if you had visited YouTube directly. This is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
Server and security data
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, for security and to keep the site running reliably.
Our legal basis for using your information
- Consent — for sending you our newsletter and for analytics cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for replying to messages you send us and for keeping the site secure.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site, and only so far as they need it to provide their service:
- Hostinger — our web host, which stores the site and its data.
- Google — for analytics and for the YouTube videos we embed.
- Our email provider — which delivers newsletter and confirmation emails on our behalf.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they are required to protect it to a standard equivalent to UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter subscriber details until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. We keep contact-form messages for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. Unsubscribing
Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it removes you from our list straight away. You can re-subscribe at any time.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
